The Jaguar F-Type, My Bucket List Spaceship

My love for cars began at a very early age. I remember my dad rolling up to our house in Oregon with a brand new Jaguar – it was the flashiest car around for miles. He’d take me for rides just outside of the city where we could test the full power of the engine. Whenever I closed my eyes it felt just like what I imagine a spaceship would feel like.

Ever since then I’ve always dreamed of owning my own luxury sports car one day. Perhaps it’s the childhood bias, but when I actually took the stats into consideration, I kept coming back to Jaguar. The Jaguar F-Type is truly something inspirational for genuine car nuts – I count myself among their numbers.

This car is almost incomparable to its direct competition. Of course, I don’t make this statement lightly. According to market trends, the F-Type sits right within the sweet spot for luxury sports cars. See for yourself,

Jaguar F-Type V6 – 105,432.63 AUD

Jaguar F-Type V6 S – 121647.49 AUD

Jaguar F-Type V8-S – 144,105.07 AUD

These prices are especially important to consider when you analyze the top speed of these luxury cars. For example,

Jaguar F-Type V6 – 161 MPH, 0-62 MPH in 5.3 seconds

Jaguar F-Type V6 S – 171 MPH, 0-62 in 4.9 seconds

Jaguar F-Type V8-S – 186 MPH, 0-62 MPH in 4.3 seconds

To me the F-Type is hard proof that you don’t have to splurge in complete excess to wield that kind of speed in a sports car. But there’s one more stat that completely sold me – the power. Jaguar takes every edge here against the competition, no matter power or affordability.

The Jaguar F-Type V8-S proved marginally better than its main competitors in terms of power, torque, kerb weight and power to weight – most impressive, indeed. The number nerd inside of me is truly in love with this car.

I still have a lot more midnight oil to burn before I can land my luxury sports car but I know the hard work will pay off. Parking this spaceship in my garage is the ultimate bucket list item.
