After suffuring from a serious case of pneumonia, British actor Bob Hoskins has died at the age of 71. The news was broken earlier this morning by Hoskins’ agent Clair Dobbs.
Hoskins, who retired from acting August of 2012 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, was known best for his work in Brazil, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and The Long Good Friday. Bob was the winner of a Golden Globe in 1987 for his portrayal of George in the film Mona Lisa where he acted alongside Michael Caine and Robbie Coltrane.
Driven by a passion for language, literature, and theatre at an early age, Hoskins was constantly dreaming of stage time. After an accidental audition, Bob Hoskins was offered a part in a small theatre and soon after found an agent who helped him recieve roles in televisions on series like Villains and Thick as Thieves in the mid-70’s.
Bob’s career really began to bloom with his major movie debut in The Long Good Friday which led him to such movies as Nixon, Mermaids, and Enemy at the Gates.
We here at Modern Thrill are huge fans of Bob, so we decided to put together some of our favorite moments of his career. Rest in peace, good sir. You will be forever remembered and loved.
