It’s been said that time is relative — a fleeting element that has not much more bearing on our every day lives than when to wake up for work. And yet without this element of time, Hollywood would lose out on some of the best stories ever told.
Here is a little trivia question for you — what time travelers from cinema traveled the furthest? Was it Bill and Ted along their ‘Excellent Adventure’? Perhaps the X-Men, visitors of days future past. Or maybe it was Harry Potter, the boy who lived the same day over and over again.
For that answer we turn to our friends from Watchstop with this awesome infographic.
Dr. Who gets the nod here, having traveled to the beginning of time to, well … forever. A not-so-close second is Bill and Ted, who also claim the title of ‘most visits’ to different time periods. Next we have Professor X and his merry band of mutants, our most recently inducted travelers of time.
What is it that makes time travel so interesting to movie audiences? Are we looking for an answer to the unknown? Are history buffs trying to experience a time long forgotten? Are we simply trying to escape our own reality? Whatever the reason, time travel certainly makes for a timeless plot point.
