Premiering on August 5, “Luck” and its star-studded cast led by executive producer John Lasseter will finally debut!
The term “luck” has a loaded meaning in 2022. Some people may feel they have had a lot of bad luck in the past two years. However, the team at Skydance didn’t let that stop them from creating more magical worlds during the pandemic. Among these are “Luck,” the first feature-length animation from Skydance headed by John Lasseter. Sam, the unluckiest girl in the world, is on a journey to change her luck in “Luck.”
About “Luck”
A fantasy-based feature-length computer-animated film, “Luck” from Skydance Animation is fully computer-animated. It is set in the land of Luck, which is a kingdom ruled by two predictable forces — good luck and bad luck. As a result, the towns are known as Good Luck and Bad Luck in their kingdoms.
Eva Noblezada plays Sam, the unluckiest woman in the world. The CEO of Good Luck, The Dragon (played by Jane Fonda), and the head of security, (played by Whoopi Goldberg), are determined to help Sam. The Dragon, the oldest in the land, believes that good luck is the key to success. After realizing that luck isn’t everything, the Dragon begins to mend some wounds between Good Luck and Bad Luck… along with the issues that have been impacting Sam’s life.
Animation studios like Skydance Animation excel at turning parables into shiny and new visuals. This parable translation could not have been more appropriate for Luck. Luck is a matter of perspective in the movie.
In this animated feature film, at least one recognizable voice hooks the viewer’s attention and helps them connect with the story. It went above and beyond, capturing some of today’s biggest voice actors as well as some of the most classic actors from the past. As they leveled the playing field, they brought in new voices in the world of animation.
Along with the well-known cast members we’ve already mentioned, like Jane Fonda and Whoopi Goldberg, the star-studded cast includes the following:
- The character of Bob in Good Luck, played by Simon Pegg, changes the narrative that black cats are unlucky. In Sam’s journey, he is one of her most prominent allies, helping her find a lucky penny.
- With Jeff the Unicorn, Flula Borg stays true to his silly side. The CEO of Good Luck is in love with Jeff, the head engineer in charge of distributing good luck and bad luck to humans.
- Sam’s hope for a better life back on Earth comes from Lil Rel Howery. Marv believes in Sam at Flowers and More when no one else does.
- Among the arrivals and departures workers in the Land of Luck is Gerry the leprechaun, played by Colin O’Donoghue.
- John Ratzenberger plays Rootie, the mayor of Bad Luck and a bad luck root, in this tribute to Lasseter.
