Do you struggle to make time to keep fit? If so, you’re certainly not alone! We all know we should be getting regular exercise of at least 30 minutes a day, but sometimes it can be tough to fit in a daily workout.
However, there are ways you can fit in a little daily exercise without too much effort. Here, you’ll discover some great tips and advice for making time for getting fit.
Realise it’s ok to start small
One of the most common mistakes you can make when it comes to working out, is thinking you absolutely need to do 30 minutes a day. While 30 minutes of daily exercise is recommended, it’s perfectly OK to start with just a five minute workout. This helps to get you into a routine and before you know it you’ll be doing longer daily workouts.
Change your commute
One of the best ways to make time for exercise is to incorporate it into your existing routine. Take the journey to work as an example. If you currently drive to work, why not consider ditching the car and opting for a bicycle instead? Even if your commute is quite long, you could always invest in a foldable bicycle which fits in the boot of the car. That way, you can drive part-way and then cycle the rest of the way to work.
Similarly, you can make changes once you actually get to work. If you take the elevator for example, you could switch to taking the steps instead. These little changes can help you to fit in 30 minutes of exercise without needing to make additional time to do it.
Get the family involved
Family commitments can sometimes get in the way of working out. That’s why it’s a great idea to get the whole family involved. Twice a week, aim to get outdoors with the family to do something fun and active.
You could go for walks together, go swimming, play frisbee in the local park or take up a family activity class such as tennis.
The above is just some of the ways you can make time for exercise. As you can see, it doesn’t take half as much effort as you might think and even if you start out doing 5-10 minutes a day, you’ll soon build it up to the recommended 30 minutes daily exercise.
