San Diego Comic Con was a huge hit this past weekend, but one of the most exciting events at the convention was the panel with the Game of Thrones cast. Seth Myers was the celebrity moderator and over 6,000 fans attended.
Myers asked John Bradley, who plays Sam, where Sam & Gilly’s relationship is headed. Bradley responded that Sam would happily accept more of the same. He also said that up until Gilly, Sam would think about sex like most people would outer space, it is something that goes on, but he has got nothing to do with it. We shall see what happens between the two!
Director David Nutter revealed that the day they filmed Shireen Baratheon’s final scene ended up being a very tough day of filming. There was tough weather in a difficult setting and everyone knew what was going to happen. He added it was a very powerful moment and all of the actors and extras were really into the scene. Nutter also said that the audience doesn’t just feel the loss and sadness of tragic events, the crew and casts members also feel it.
Maisie Williams plays character Arya and the actress will have to play her blind next season. A lucky fan asked the actress how she felt about that. Williams admitted she actually has anxiety about it because the contacts she wears are extremely uncomfortable on top of her not being able to see. She said it will be tricky next season, but she is still excited to see what happens.
The cast also said they had issues with some of the feline actors. Natalie Dormer plays Margeary and said Ser Pounce was a nightmare when trying to film. She said the cat wouldn’t stay on the bed and she didn’t know how they were able to even get the scene done. Williams had an issue with a feline actor in Season 1 too. She was supposed to not be able to catch the cat, but the cat refused to run away. Sounds like the cats are quite the divas on set.
Nutter told fans that President Barack Obama is a huge fan of Game of Thrones. The director was able to meet with Obama a few weeks ago. Obama said to Nutter, “You didn’t kill John Snow, did you?” Unfortunately, the director had to let the President down by telling him Snow is deader than dead. Obama replied, “you keep killing off my favorite characters!” We feel you, Obama!
