Jurassic World, the latest installment of the Jurassic Park series, just hit theaters, so I thought it was appropriate to go over some interesting facts from the previous Jurassic Parks. The original Jurassic Park was released in 1993. Doesn’t it just seem like yesterday?
Director Steven Spielberg actually heard about the book while Michael Crichton was writing it. Before Crichton even finished the book, Spielberg won the film rights and the rest is history.
For all of the Jurassic Park movies, a paleontologist from the Museum of the Rockies was the technical adviser. Jack Horner was responsible for pushing the movies to view the dinosaurs as more bird-like. His input and insight help make the dinosaurs seem more realistic.
Animators took their roles seriously and took mime classes to help develop the movement of the dinosaurs. They even studied movements of lizards, giraffes and other modern day animals.
The T. Rex attack scene is one of the most memorable scenes from the films. It was planned for Jeff Goldblum’s character to run away from it in fear, but he thought it would be better if he tried to stand up to the beast and look more heroic. Spielberg liked the idea and went with it.

The Raptors in the first Jurassic Park were all female. We were later introduced to male raptors in the 2nd installment of the film. Male raptors are known to have more vibrant colors compared to the females.
The only reason Spielberg included a Stegosaurus in the 2nd Jurassic Park was because he received so much fan mail of people asking for one after the first movie was released.
All of this Jurassic Park talk makes me want to go sit down and watch all of them in a row and then head to the theatres to see the newest one!
