Nantucket, MA

A lot of cities on the east coast know how to celebrate the holidays, but the small island town of Nantucket in Massachusetts has been decorating for the holidays since the 1970s. Every year, the town holds a Christmas Stroll. This annual event allows guests to walk downtown and shop along dozens of seven-foot Christmas trees that are decorated perfectly. There is also wine tastings, home tours and ghost walks. A lot of the local shops are a great place to find gifts and the entire city is covered in holiday cheer. You also have to check out The Whale Museum, which features 80 decorated trees designed by local merchants, artists and even kids.
Lewisburg, WV

Lewisburg in West Virginia is home to The Greenbrier hotel and this spot puts on the most amazing display of holiday decorations complete with tons of ribbons and Christmas trees. The resort is 236-years-old and really gets visitors in the holiday spirit. The towns own Carnegis Hall holds an incredible concert every year put on by the West Virginia Symphony. There are also a lot of great shops and bakeries to stop in and shop at.
Park City, UT

Park City in Utah hosts the Electric Parade every year in late November and sparkling lights on cars, trucks and bicycles light up the mountain town. The parade is held on Main Street and the bright-lit displays go down the street to classic holiday music. Christmas Eve is a lot of fun and you can catch Santa skiing the slopes all day and then leading a parade down the PayDay trail. The city really knows how to celebrate the holidays and it just has a really cozy feel.
La Jolla, CA

La Jolla sits just outside of San Diego in California and it is a beautiful place to visit anytime of year, but it is amazing to see during the holidays. The weather is perfect and it is warm enough to stroll down all of the local shops and attend the events held weekly. Some of the events feature arts and crafts from local vendors and all of the businesses and homes go all out decorating for the holidays.
