Jon Stewart aired his final Daily Show episode last week and it was an emotional sendoff. The last episode was full of laughs, tears and famous correspondents from the past 16 years.
The satire news show on Comedy Central is a favorite by many and it turned out to be one of the best sources for current events. It has made a number of comedians famous like Steve Carell, Ed Helms, John Oliver, Olivia Munn and Stephen Colbert. Plus, it gave Stewart a chance to speak what is on his mind and a lot of people like what he has to say.
The Daily Show’s final episode drew in over 3.5 million viewers, which makes it the second-most-watched-episode in the entire show’s history. The most-watched-episode was when Stewart interviewed President Obama.
John Oliver, Rob Rangel, Jason Jones, Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell and Ed Helms all made appearances on the hour-long episode. It was really cool to see all of the correspondents come back and pay tribute to Stewart. Colbert gave a farewell speech to Stewart that was extremely touching. Stewart was clearly emotional and choked up a little while Colbert was talking.
Stewart’s final moment of Zen at the end of the show ended up being Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band playing the song Land of Hope and Dreams. Stewart himself requested the song.
Jon Stewart has become such a favorite that many people have said they would vote for him for President. Maybe that could be next on Stewart’s agenda? The Daily Show will go on without Stewart when Trevor Noah becomes the new host starting in September. Noah definitely has some big shoes to fill. Jon Stewart will be missed on The Daily Show!
