After 16 years, Jon Stewart said goodbye to The Daily Show. Stewart isn’t the only comedian who boosted their career thanks to the satire news show. The Daily Show has seen a lot of correspondents, most have gone on to do things and get recognized, but some turned out to be big stars.
Ed Helms
Ed Helms is one of the biggest comedic stars at the moment. But before he became a well-known face, he contributed to field assignments on The Daily Show from 2002 to 2006. He worked on a number of successful segments during his four year run on the show. After Helms left the show, he has returned as a special correspondent a few times. He went on to gain fame and star in The Hangover and the newly released Vacation Movie.
Steve Carell
Steve Carell was on The Daily Show for about five years. He was the first correspondent from the show to become a major celebrity. Carell left the show in 2005 and went on to star in The Office. Since then, he has been in numerous films like 40-year-old Virgin, Anchorman and has also returned as a featured guest on The Daily Show. He even married a fellow former correspondent, Nancy Walls.
Stephen Colbert
Of course you cannot forget Stephen Colbert. He might be one of the most well known correspondents from The Daily Show. Colbert was on The Daily Show for almost nine years. He also was a guest host on the show six times in the early 2000s. He left the team in 2005 and started his own show, The Colbert Report. The Colbert Report turned out to be a big hit as well, but he has left the show and is set to be the new host of The Late Show starting in the fall.
