How to get to Santorini
You can get to Santorini by sea or air. People who want to cross the sea and enjoy a trip a little slower and a more extensive route can take the ferries that provide the service or take the direct flight.
a) By sea
If you access Santorini by sea, you must know that the port is not located within any city, because the whole island ends or flows into a large cliff.
The port is located a few kilometers from the capital Thira, and to get out of the port you must climb a super-slope, which you cannot do on foot. We came to look for the company of the rental car to the port and the truth is that it was very practical and comfortable, and we avoided having to go by bus to Thira.
b) By air
Perhaps one of the best ways to see and experience the island is thorough Santorini helicopter tours. It is one of the most exciting and memorable tours one can embark on. It allows for views that are virtually impossible to see by any other means of travel.
As a recommendation for visitors, is to make reservations in advance in case you wish to arrive in high season.
c) Flights
The fastest way to get to Santorini is by plane. In case you travel from Spain, direct flights are the best alternative, however, if you are one of the people who book at the last minute, they will not get a better rate and you will surely get a price that only transoceanic flights offer you.
It is important to keep in mind that the schedules of the transoceanic flights are at dawn and if you want to arrive you should consider taking it or making stopovers.
The airport is also close to Thira, but it is not in the city, so you will need to go by bus to the capital or arrange with the rental company to pick you up there.
